Rabiul Hasan: In the month of Ramadan, various business syndicates and stockists have increased the prices of goods at will and looted in the name of profit. Commodity prices are not under control. A number of unscrupulous traders in Shahrashti have started slaughtering people like butchers in the name of business.
Lockdown is underway across the country due to the outbreak of Corona virus. In this way the suffering of the common people is being borne even though the government is trying its best so that the people do not go hungry.
Emergency medicines and food items have been kept out of the lockdown to meet the demand for daily necessities. In Shahrashti, the market of daily necessities and various hats and bazaars have been visited and it has been seen that the market price of every commodity has gone up. The prices of essential commodities are not decreasing in any way. The people who are working hard are getting lost in this. Going to the market, people are falling into extreme disorder. In the absence of market monitoring, unscrupulous traders have resorted to reckless profiteering on the pretext of fasting, deceiving sellers, farmers and innocent people.
Due to non-disclosure of price list fixed by the government, daily necessities are being sold at blood-sucking prices. Turning to the market, it is seen that onion is currently being sold at Rs. Some people who came to the market said that the price of any vegetable in the raw market is not less than 40 rupees per kg. Although the prices of farm chickens are at a tolerable level in the meat market, the price of domestic chickens has gone up by Rs 220-250 per kg, beef by Rs 600-750 per kg, chicken eggs by Rs 34-36 per hali and wholesale by Rs 700-850 per kg.
Many people will die of starvation due to not being able to buy liquid at extra price even if they do not die due to corona in the unemployed life of the people. This is what the people of Shahrashti Upazila think. Their demand is that the matter needs to come to the notice of Shahrashti Upazila administration soon.
